Palmetto Ski & Outing Club’s Checklist
For Leading a Non-Ski Event
By The Piper
These are the steps that South Carolina’s Palmetto Ski Club suggests
to help prospective activity leaders in leading a non-ski event:
- Select an activity. Determine the cost and the best time for the event.
- Select a date and coordinate with the club’s non-ski activities
director.
- Advertise the event in the newsletter at least two months in advance
using MS Word, Works, or Publisher software. Send a copy (in time to
meet the club’s newsletter deadline) to the editor, webmaster,
non-ski director, and president of the club.
- Prepare a two- to five-minute announcement to share at the membership
meeting. Notify the club president at least one day before the club
meeting to put the event on the meeting agenda.
- Make a sign to go on or above your event’s sign-up table.
- Have the standard club reservation and release for single-day activities
signed by each person who signs up for the event.
- Determine the total cost of the activity, establish a budget, and
get a check request form if club funds are needed in advance.
- Deposit all activity funds within five days of receipt. Deposit slips
are available from the treasurer.
- Return all copies of the deposit slips to the treasurer as soon as
possible. Please include on the deposit slip as much information as
possible. Turn in your activity sign-up forms.
Encourage folks to take photographs so that you can share your event with
the newsletter editor and the rest of the club.
