What else is Happening Among the Councils?

The National Ski Council Federation has arranged for members to receive up to a 40% discount off retail on Bollé goggles and their new ski helmet. Member clubs may request sample sizes and colors of the helmet to display at meetings. Check out the details on the offer at the federation’s website, www.skifederation.org.

The Connecticut Ski Council will hold their Winter Trails United Snowball in Vernon, CT, on November 20.

The Metropolitan Detroit Ski Council went on a Caribbean Cruise in September, experiencing Grand Cayman, Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Cozumel.

The Arizona Ski Council held its Ski Season Kickoff Event in Phoenix on November 4. The event is for ski club members and industry vendors.

The Los Angeles Council of Ski Clubs held their Snowball on November 6 in Marina Del Rey.

The Chicago Metropolitan Ski Council will hold its Winter Carnival at Schuss/Shanty Creek in March and their ski Week reported on page 27 is the organizations 25th annual Chicago Week.

The Crescent Ski Council will also hold their fall conference in Asheville, NC, November 12-14.

The Metropolitan New York Ski Council will host a weekend bus trip to Killington/Pico in January. The council is also asking its club members to make a worthwhile contribution to the Special Olympics organization or to the Windham Adaptive Skiing Program by sponsoring a “Donation Day” where clubs ask their members to bring in donations of ski equipment, boots and used ski clothing (hats, gloves, ski pants, etc.) for distribution to those charitable organizations.

The Northwest Ski Club Council held its NWSCC Ski Fair on November 9. The annual event gives members of their clubs an opportunity to meet with local ski retailers and ski resort representatives. One of this year’s feature attractions was the helmet display by the Oregon Safe Kids Coalition.

The Long Island Association of Ski Clubs (NY) will host weekend bus trips to Hunter Mountain (NY) in December, Belleayre in January, and Sunday River (ME) in March.

Bay Area Snow Sports Council (CA) members will race go-karts on November 14 to benefit the Tahoe Adaptive Ski School. The council is also offering members who volunteer to man their booth free admittance passes at several regional ski shows this fall.

The Western Pennsylvania Ski Council will again hold their Halloween party at Seven Springs Resort.

The Eastern Pennsylvania Ski Council will hold its Winterfest Auction on November 12 in Horsham, PA.
